Hi Soad, tell us, how long have you worked at The Grove and what roles have you had?

I have been working at The Grove for 18 months now. I joined as a member of our reception team and have since moved up to become one of The Grove’s two Mansion Experience Managers. Looking after our mansion suite guests and ensuring they have the most enjoyable stay with everything they need is the most important part of my job.

What does a typical day look like for you as a Mansion Experience Manager?

A typical day starts with me getting a handover of what’s been going on at Front of House with our guests. If we are busy I will help out on the reception desk and if things are quiet then I will be preparing for the arrival of our mansion suite guests. This normally involves contacting guests ahead of their stay and learning more about their preferences and of any amenity requests, organising their registration card and keys and so on. I also work closely with our guest experience team and together we ensure that guest queries and complaints are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

Which is your favourite suite and why?

I’d have to pick our Hyde Suite as my top choice, mainly due to its positioning on the second floor. It has the most captivating view of the presentation lawn. My second favourite suite has to be the Clarendon Suite as it exudes that cosy home-away-from-home vibe, and when the fire pit on The Glasshouse terrace is lit, the cosiness is felt even more so.

What is your favourite thing about working at The Grove?

First and foremost it’s the team I work with – they’re an incredibly friendly bunch which makes coming to work so much more enjoyable. I also love the range of benefits we receive as employees. Being able to use the spa facilities is a pretty cool perk of the job if you ask me!

Can you share an interesting, lesser-known fact about the mansion?

Legend has it that our mansion is home to the ghost of Sir Reginald von Chucklesworth, a dapper Victorian-era gentleman who was known for his impeccable sense of humour. It’s said that on particularly joyous nights, you might catch a glimpse of him in the hallways, telling ghostly jokes and leaving echoes of laughter in his wake. Some guests even claim to have received spectral high-fives after a particularly good punchline. So, if you hear a faint chuckle in the corridors, don’t be alarmed – it’s just Sir Chucklesworth keeping the afterlife amused!
