Hi Josie, can you tell us a little more about where you’ve joined us from? What have your previous job roles been?
I have always worked in hospitality. Prior to studying Hospitality Business Management at Sheffield Hallam University, I had always held F&B positions in pubs and restaurants, however, during my internship at Flemings Mayfair where I gained and enjoyed experience in Front of House, I was intrigued to know what other departments I was missing out on. So, after I graduated, I joined South Lodge on their Graduate Programme where I rotated around all the departments for two years. I really enjoyed my time in the different departments but working in Rooms Division was definitely the most fun. Throughout my time at South Lodge, I progressed to Front of House Manager and then was part of the spa launch team as Spa Front of House Manager. I then moved to London and decided that it was the right time to put what I had learnt in my CIPD qualification into practice, so I joined The Red Carnation Collection as their Graduate Recruitment and Development Officer. I finished there in October this year and then joined the wonderful team at The Grove.
What are your plans for The Grove?
I am keen to build the relationship we have with universities, furthering our reach as an employer. The creation of a graduate programme for students is also on the cards which I am very excited about. As well as this, I aim to enhance and expand the learning and development offering that we currently have.
What is your favourite thing about working for The Grove?
I’ve only been here for a month but so far I’m really enjoying the people. There’s such a variety of departments, from housekeeping to golf operations, so it is incredibly interesting to hear everyone’s stories and get an insight into people’s passions. As this job is a brand-new role, I’m also enjoying making it my own.
What is the best piece of careers advice you’ve received?
You are in charge of your own journey. If you want to get somewhere then it is down to you to drive and make it happen.
What is your dream job?
I’ve always wanted to open my own bakery or café!
